Abstract

Highlights

  • In the rapidly globalizing world of science, building research capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and creating futuristic collaborative relationships between high-income countries (HICs) and LMICs add great value to investment and also pave the path for major scientific discoveries to benefit the world and all countries involved. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute investment in the Global Health Initiative is a superb example of this principle.
